Godonu Kofi Srigboh grew up in a family of mostly boys. They all played a variety of instruments. Under the guidance of his musically talented father, Godonu took " Blekete" drums, made for the family by the father.

Godonu was born in Aflao in the Volta Region of Ghana, West Africa. He spent part of his childhood in Lome, Togo, where he was educated in the French system.
