Ghana’s hiplife music show stopper Castro Da Destroyer says he is ready to pick up awards at this year’s Ghana Music Awards festival 2007.
Speaking on Hitz Fm, a local radio station in Accra, Castro said he knows Ghanaians like his music and he also knows how his music is currently fairing on the music market so he is sure his fans will vote for him to win at this year’s Ghana music awards festival.
With two nominations under his belt, Castro said there is no panic at all.
Castro’s “Back and Front” was nominated for the HIPLIFE SONG OF THE YEAR Award together with big shots like Obrafuor (Heavy), Praye (run run something), Lord Kenya (Born Again), Aketekyie (Siesie obaano), Castro (Back and Front), Wutah (Esikyire (Change your style), C-Zar(Araba Lawson), Okomfour Kwaadee(Ka wo nan to so).
Castro also battles with Kwesi Pee, Bright, Dada K D, Kweku Gyasi, Kojo Antwi and Moses OK for the Best Male Vocal Performance of the Year.
Speaking on why he featured a lot of Ghanaian musicians on his latest album, Castro debunked the notion that, it’s not because he can’t do his album all alone, but to him it’s just a way to cut across the general listening public in the Ghanaian music industry.
“When it comes to rap, I can rap all songs on my album, I can sing all songs on my album, I can even do ragga, but I feel its best to do an album that will have a wide support base in Ghana”, he said.
Speaking on “back and front”, he said he picked samples from “Aaliyah’s Back and front.
Asked whether he has plans of getting a new album, he said he is still studying the system to know when to bring out a new one.
