Award Winning Highlife Superstar Daasebre Gyamena, who had a brush with the law in UK last year, arrived back home on Tuesday night to a celebrity’s welcome after he was acquitted of drug charges last week.
Among the huge crowd of people who thronged the Kotoka International Airport to welcome him was his wife, ex-wife, his manager, brothers, members from his record label and a host of Ghanaian musicians.
The whole place with glittering with flashes from digital cameras. Sound recorders way high up above heads, phone cameras almost hitting Daasebre’s face and people sang praise songs as he moved into the arrival arena.
Daasebre Gyamena’s Manager, Fred Nuamah, who has since the onset of the trial being so optimistic that Daasebre was going to come home shouted “I said it …. I said it, Daasebre has never been a drug-person and I think today is victory for us all”, he chanted.
His wife who was so elated to see Daasebre come back to Ghana was lost for words when she was asked how she felt. All she said was “God is Great”.
Daasebre exchanged pleasantries with fans who had come to meet him and took turns to take photographs all well wishers.
Daasebre thanked everyone for the trust and support he was given throughout his trial.
Meanwhile whilst Daasebre’s fans were at the airport to give him a hero’s welcome, family members and friends of the family had gathered at his father’s residence at Kokomlemle to celebrate the arrival of Daasebre Gyamena safely into the country.
