Recently a hiplife musician claimed he went to Tudu, a suburb of Accra, upon advice from a friend to visit a spiritualist to pray over his music before releasing the album.
When he entered the room, the spiritualist showed him the CDs of even some musicians who had been brought to him to pray over for a month before releasing them.
When he expressed doubt, the spiritualist, he claimed asked him to hang around that day and see.
He claimed he waited around and indeed he spotted two musicians entering the premises of the man, though they were not gospel musicians.
However, with the CDs of the one he saw with the Mallam, he was convinced they were also in the same game, as hiplife musicians he saw entering.
This deepened speculations that certain gospel musicians visit occultists to pray over their musical works before releasing them for public consumption.
Although a section of the gospel musicians came out to deny the publication, a man of God Beatwaves spoke to insists that some gospel musicians do visit spiritualists to pray over their musical works before going public with them.
The leader of the church of Rabbi, Prophet David Kwabena Tawiah stated that not all gospel music being aired on radio and television come from God.
He conceded that “Music is good, it educates and entertains every one of us, and God sometimes uses music to heal the sick, also the churches in the country use music in their church activities.
“Pastors do perform miracles in their various churches with music.”
He stated however that in Ghana, we have gospel musicians who are being used by God but only a handful are committed Christians.
“Sometimes I use gospel music to heal the sick in my church. If you have the spirit of God, you could heal the sick with music. God has a special angel who controls music and uses it to heal,” he stated, but there is a big but.
On music therefore, his words were, “Take it easy however when it comes to music. Not all gospel songs are from the Lord”.
