An Array of hiplife artistes will, on Sat¬urday August 6, storm the Lolonya Beach at Ada Foah to churn out non-stop music for thousands of revelers from various parts of Ghana.
The performance forms part of activities that will mark the 2007 edition of the Asafotufiam festival of the Chiefs and people of Ada and its surrounding areas.
A repeat performance of the concert will be held at the same venue on Saturday August 12 to climax the festival, which is expected to attract thousands of Ghanaians, other African nationals as well as tourists from Europe and the United States.
The programme, which is being organized by Base6 Multimedia, will also feature traditional and contemporary dance groups, who will thrill the audience with traditional and choreographed dance pieces that would be accompanied by loud and complex African drumming.
The celebration of Asafotufiam festival is in remembrance of the achievements in the wars for settlement fought by the ancestors of the area.
Indeed, the settlement of the Adas at their present abode came about as a result of the migration of an ethnic group of people believed to be part of a great African Negro race from Western Sudan.
According to tradition, the celebration starts from Thursday in the first week of every August with the arrival of guests from other places to the town with house cleaning ceremonies and pouring of libation at the respective shrines of the various families.
