The National Vice President of the Musicians Union of Ghana, MUSIGA, Togbe Edinam Ansah has called on government to expedite action on the passage of the legislative instrument concerning piracy in the music industry.
He said piracy and non-payment of royalties are major problems crippling the Music Industry. Mr. Ansah made the remark at a three day workshop for musicians in Ho.
The workshop is to identify problems in the music industry and find solutions to them.
Mr. Ansah said the Music Industry is very challenging therefore to excel in it, operators need to be discipline and hardworking.
He therefore advised musicians to be creative and sensitive to the taste of the people.
They should also avoid profane lyrics in their compositions.
The Volta Regional Chairman of MUSIGA, Mrs. Florence Azamebi said most talented youth in the industry are frustrated due to inadequate support.
She therefore called on the government and other stakeholders to assist in the development of the industry.
The association later presented over GH˘400 worth of assorted items to the children’s ward of the Ho Municipal Hospital.
