The present, first Vice President of the Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Diana Akiwumi out-doored her newly recorded ninth album on Thursday November 23 last year, at the Youth With A Mission Centre, Tema community 12.
The gospel singer who has been off the shelves of most record shops is now out with a cocked gospel album for her fans in and outside the country. For the love she has for the youth aunty Diana has been busy training some young entrepreneurs to master their skills, arts and entertainment as a legacy they can live on in the days ahead at the Youth With A Mission Centre in Tema.
Diana believes the arts and entertainment industry is very important to the growth of every nation. Apart from the obvious job opportunities, she said it also employs numerous specialists from difference fields like graphic designers, carpenters, electricians, printers, managers, advertisers etc. In an interview, Diana outlined professional input that goes into preparing world standard musical album and also expressed her joy that finally there is a Minister of Culture who can speak for the industry in parliament because according to her for Ghana to move forward, the country needs to invest much more in this industry.
An investment she has already started with this new album titled "Hallelujah Yedi Nkunim". The eleven (11) track album was recorded with live instruments at the ARC Studio, Tema Community Eleven. Explaining why she decided to record live Diana said her instrumentaliss always has to learn how to play the songs after she releases. So this time around the songstress deemed it necessary to make them a full part of the recording process.
Though she admits live recording demands extra effort and extra funding, she thinks it is wealth it because she has come a long way to be doing what almost everybody is doing. Comparing live recording and that of the computer age she explains that recording with computer is easier, cheaper, faster and sounds clearer than live recording but professionally live recording has always remained the best considering the spontaneous flow of the instrumentalists and vocalist.
Among the special features on this album is a song titled "Happy birthday" a high life version of the popular happy birthday song for all birthday celebrant and to wish Mother Ghana a happy 50th Birthday. A touch to this album release is a project Diana has started to educate the masses on performing arts.
As an Alumni of the School of Performing Arts, Madam Akiwumi and some partners have established a Performing Arts Ministry (PAM) as one of the programs offered at the Community 11 based Youth With A Mission Campus. Diana believes she has a mission and the vision to accomplish it and all she needs is your support.
