Accra-based Citi FM has held the second edition of the December to Remember musical concert which took place at the Accra International Conference Centre on Friday, December 28, 2007.
The show kicked off at 9pm with Bukom Banku and his trainer dishing out some rib-cracking jokes.
Slim Buster and his dancers also set the tone for a fine night with a well executed routine, as their exhilarating dance antics and carefully selected songs sent the audience agog.
To add more style to the show were Mzbel and her dancers, who were greeted with thunderous applause and whistles as they appeared on stage. Then came Okyeame Quami and Bradez from Kumasi, who proved that the Garden City also had so much to offer. Their delightful choreographs won the hearts of all, and that was when the party really began. With fans almost out of breathe, Tic Tac, backed by an all-male band, struck the tune for the famous “Philomena”. The screams from the ladies were so deafening when Tic Tac invited 10 girls and guys to join him do the “Kangaroo”. His session was simply electrifying.
Another group which turned the whole auditorium upside down with its stagecraft and dancing skills was VIP. The concert took a new turn when the “Gospel Abrantee”, Kwaku Gyasi brought in some Holy Ghost-filled fire onto the stage. Almost everybody in the hall was singing and screaming on top of their voices, hoping to go hoarse before Samini came up stage.
Nana Quame perfectly cooled audience with his mellow music, followed by Kwabena Kwabena, who was at his singing best. He gelled so much with the band one would think he had been working with them his whole life. But that was only the calm before the storm of Prayé and those white hippie kids.
Prayé, who had just returned from a UK tour that morning, showed no sign of fatigue. They gave good account of themselves and surprised everyone with the invitation of 4X4 and Tinny to join them perform the remix of the hit song, “Jacket”.
Later around 2:15am, the Megastar Band struck the tune of “Odwo”, then “Linda” and “Samini”, and there came Samini running in spotting white blazer and black pair of tight jeans. The audience, clad in white tops, surged forward just to feel Samini a whole lot better. He rocked for about thirty minutes and was invited by Sammy Forson to join the After Party that had already started in the lobby.
The December to Remember Concert was powered by Citi FM in collaboration with Agoo Magazine, and sponsored by Coca Cola, MTN and Burn Energy Drink
