As part of its objectives to create awareness on the dangers of Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, maternal/infant mortality and still-birth in Africa, the Rhythms of African Music Foundation (RAMF), a non-governmental organization based in Agona Swedru in the Central region will soon tour some countries in Central and Southern Africa to campaign against these health issues.
The move is being spearheaded by the president, George William Dickson, an experienced musician and research fellow. In the course of its campaigns, other musicians who recognized the importance of using music to convey information on the dangers of Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, maternal/infant mortality and still-birth to communities through live band performances, joined the musical educational crusade.
The programmes coordinator and singer of RAMF, Mr. Kennedy Kwame Amoamah noted that they had approved certificates from the following recognized bodies – Registrar General’s Department, Department of Social Welfare, Agona District Assembly, Ghana Association of Private Voluntarily Organization in Development (GAPVOD), World Association of Non–Governmental Organizations (WANGO) and a natural member of S-XXI Global Solutions NGO of Paris.
The organization, he indicated, is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to achieve its aims and objectives.
According to him, RAMF’s mission was to entertain and create awareness on the dangers of Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.
Mr. Michael Makama Dadzie, lead guitarist of the RAMF band also hinted that the tour was geared at raising funds to support the needy and vulnerable, particularly orphaned children and persons infected with Tuberculosis and other related diseases.
The organization, which was founded in June 2007 has Katakyie Kwame Nti, singer; Elizabeth Amoakosa, singer; Samuel Kwaku Mensah, drummer; Abraham Kwame Asante, keyboardist and John Laweh Doku, bass guitarist, as members.
