THE ZONAL auditions for Ghana’s first ever gospel reality show, ‘Soul Search’ aimed at promoting gospel music, was held last weekend in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions.
The auditioning which was keenly contested, attracted young and talented gospel musicians between the ages of 18 and 35.
In a chat, Joshua Amuah of the Music Department of the University of Ghana, who is also one of the judges for the show said, “I must confess the quality of contestants in Ashanti and Brong Ahafo is much higher than the other zones we have visited so far”.
At the end of the auctioning ceremony, eight talented gospel stars qualified for the final event in Accra.
The organizers will visit the three northern regions this Saturday May 31.
The venue for the auditions, according to the organizers, would be the Aloysia Guest House in Tamale.
Auditioning is however expected to end in Western and Central Regions on June 8.
The event would be aired live on GTV. ‘Soul Search’ is being organized by Global Alliance and sponsored by Onetouch, and Pepsi Cola.
Winners at the grand finale would take home juicy prices. The overall winner would receive GH˘5,000, a recording deal and a trip to South Africa, while 1st and 2nd runners up also get GH˘2,000 and GH˘1,000 respectively including recording deals and other souvenirs from sponsors.
Judges on the show include Mrs. Helen Yawson- KICC Music Director, and Mr. Ernest Kwasi Anim, Greater Accra Chairman of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).
