More and more artistes keep joining the gospel music band wagon and one
of the latest to get on board is Esther Freeman who has released her
debut Emmere Pa Mu.

Speaking to Showbiz about her music, Esther said she has not been attracted to singing because of the fame, glitz and glamour associated with it. Her big vision is to reach out to the needy, widows and less-priviledged in society through the proceeds from her music.

The 30-year old young songstress, who is also a trained hairdresser, described the production of her album as an arduous journey. “I have been singing in my church, In Him is Life Church,since 1994 but it was not until 2005 that one Mr Joe Acquan, who saw the potential in me, introduced me to Global Media Alliance, my executive producers.

With financial help from my grand-mother who stood by me all this while, I can now boast of using music to touch lives,” a visibly elated Ms Freeman said. “I’m also grateful to the Anointed Queens vocal group and recording engineer Nacy for their input to make the album a reality.”

Casting her mind back, Esther acknowledged the grace of God on her life that has seen her complete the 10-track album which also contains tracks like Who Am I, Ewurade Kasa, Ebeyeyie and Onam Adom Bi So.

Most of the songs on the CD are in the cool vein. The title track, Emmere Pa Mu, is a reggae rendition with beautiful backing vocals.

The substituting of Nigerian singer, Edna Ogoli’s lyrics on Who Am I is, however, quite shallow.

Ether’s words to up-and-coming gospel artistes are that they should not be deterred by the challenges associated with recording and getting their songs out. She maintains that “total dependence on God and a belief in one’s self will pave the way”.
