December is fast approaching for another general election and among the music acts calling out for peace before and after the election is the Peace Ambassadors Trinity.
Located at Gbawe in Accra, the six-piece group has come out with a single that appeals to politicians and the general populace to ensure that we have a non-violent election in December.
Titled Asomdwee, the song is a mixture of reggae and highlife with raps in Twi, Ga, English and Hausa. It was composed by the group’s leader, Henry Nii Okorley a. k. a. Kofi Wonder.
The song features other artistes like Jah Kingdom, Suleshi, Natural and Buffalo who add up some spice with their peculiar deliveries. “It is our contribution to a peaceful election. Ghana is a beautiful country and we should not let political rivalry set us on a course of self-destruction,” Henry said.
Though they have not come up with an album yet, the group’s leader told Showbiz that the group is yet to find an executive producer but was hopeful that they would soon meet someone who acknowledges their abilities and willing to help them move ahead. Henry completed Gbawe District JSS in 1985.
He is a driver and an evangelist whose passion for music, he claims, comes from God. He said he has had a knack for the performing arts since childhood and believes it is his calling to sing and reach out to the downtrodden and all people receptive to positive messages.
His group’s message for young people, he says, is that they should be wise and wary of promises by politicians. They should also guard against being lured into violent activity by self-serving politicians.
To politicians, the call from the Peace Ambassadors is: “Refrain from inflamatory talk and conduct yourselves in a peaceful manner in order to further project the good name of the country.”
