NANA ADDO DANKWA Akufo-Addo, the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), would join thousands of Christians tomorrow before the Lord in a sacred and spiritual time of praise and worship.
The move is to thank the Lord for His blessings and grace upon the party for the 2008 campaign and also to thank Him in advance for the party’s victory in the December elections says the NPP National Organizer, Lord Commey.
The ceremony would be held at the Kumasi Jackson Park and is expected to be attended by Ghana’s leading praise and worship musicians, the NPP top hierarchy, the party’s parliamentary candidates and sitting MPs as well as party faithful and sympathizers.
“This party has always believed in God and trusted in Him; the survival of the NPP till date has been through the Grace of God and we believe that it is only when we continue to shower praises on Him that He would bring down His glory on earth to increase the number of votes that would go to Nana (the NPP),” Lord Commey noted.
He added, "Psalm 150 verses 2 to 6 says that ‘Praise him for his mighty acts; praise him according to his excellent greatness; Praise him with the sound of the trumpet; praise him with the psaltery and harp; Praise him with the tumbrel and dance; praise him with stringed instruments and organs; praise him upon the high sounding cymbals; Let every thing that has breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD’, this is exactly what Nana Addo and the NPP would be doing in Kumasi this Sunday.”
Lord Commey said the program forms part of the “NPP’s multi comprehensive strategy meant to ensure that Nana Addo reaches out to every group and every space in the country.
“The whiff of Nana Addo and that of the NPP would have to be felt everywhere in this country and to sum it all, this years campaign is going to be one that has never been witnessed in the history of Ghana. First of all there was a beach jam if you would recall and most of the top hip-life stars got together and said Nana Addo is the best man for Ghana and that they believe in him just as he believes in Ghana.
“People should not only look at the crowd and think that our campaigns are about rallies; those are only one of our strategies, others would unfold,” Lord Commey added.
He also revealed that the NPP would from next week be increasing its number of polling station officers from 5 to 15 at every polling station and this is a step to further strengthen the party’s structures at the grass roots.
The 16th Anniversary of the party is also starting on Monday, 28th of July during which the party would have a media encounter to tell Ghanaians the focus of this particular anniversary in the Ashanti Region.
The party’s machinery is currently being oiled for us to embark on a house to house, door to door and room to room campaign.
Currently our parliamentary candidates are being introduced to key opinion leaders across board.
“We would be training 15 people each in 21,000 polling stations. We used to have five executives made up of the Chairman, Organizer, Youth Organizer, Women Organizer and a member at each polling station but we have increased the number to 15-member executive body that would champion the cause of the party and the training for them is underway.
“We are working very hard because the people of this country would not forgive us if we allow power to slip through our hands, we would not allow ourselves loose the trust and confidence that the good people of this country have in us,” he underscored.
