The Shades group added style to Inner Circle’s Sweat and put up a performance that could almost be described as ‘professional’ on TV3’s GangStarz reality show last Sunday but they lacked the necessary votes to carry them into the next stage of the competition and were evicted.
They were not seen as a people’s choice throughout their seven-week stay on the show but Shades always performed to the admiration of the audience anytime they got on stage.
It could be that they were also forgotten immediately they left the stage and that could account for them being chucked out of the contest.
The Pippers in their attempt to show their versatility in vocals, are rather deteriorating in performance. After being told by the judges two Sundays ago that they had moved out of their league, they decided to still stick to the mid-tempo stuff. They did As Long As You Love Me made popular by Backstreet Boys and it did them no good.
Perhaps they should go back to the slow-tempo songs they used to do that earned them the nickname ‘Boys II Men.’
For LS3, changing their style from the church-like singing to the hip mode has made the audience love them even more. They did Say It Right, originally done by Nelly Furtado. As always, they looked good.
Blaze has been consistent since Gang Starz started and they added some African flavour to J. Holiday’s Bed by doing some raps in Twi and Hausa which blended well into the song. They performed well and appeared to be enjoying what they were doing. That delighted the audience.
Afro are the crowd-pullers that always sweep the audience off their feet anytime they do a raggae piece. Some in the audience refer to them as ‘lovely’ because they always say that anytime they come on stage.
They did Footprints by T.O.K. Judge BB asked them to work harder at their vocals because they already have the crowd appeal and stage presence.
Ggirls came on in colourful clothes and delightfully performed Independent Woman by Destiny’s Child. They did not leave anything to chance and captured audience attention with their great voices and dance routines.
There are two more evictions to be effected on Gang Starz before the finals.
